Biography

I am a UK-based freelance writer, script editor and developer, with proven strong creative instincts, and drama and comedy experience.

A versatile writer, with experience writing for a range of target audiences - and adapting my style to suit different brands' tones of voice - I was author of the FAMILY GUY ANNUAL 2015 and FAMILY GUY ANNUAL 2016, for Pedigree Books. From September 2015 to May 2017, I was the sole writer and producer of on-air continuity (the voiceovers between the shows) for Comedy Central UK and Comedy Central Extra. I was also continuity writer for Fox TV UK (October 2012 - January 2016) - including the rebrand from FX TV in January 2013.

Prior to this, I freelance produced and wrote continuity for SKY TV channels, including Sky Movies, MGM HD, Sky Atlantic, Sky Living and Sky 1. I worked on the rebrand/launch of Sky Arts (formerly Artsworld), and wrote continuity scripts for the first three months of transmission. I have also written for Channel 5 - including digital channels 5USA, 5Star and Spike.

As a script editor and developer, I have worked on projects that have enjoyed great critical and commercial success. I script-edited the hit Finnish feature film, PRINCESS (dir. Arto Halonen), for Art Films Production, Helsinki. The film was released in Finland in September 2010, spent five weeks at the top of the Finnish box office (out-grossing films including TOY STORY 3 and INCEPTION), and picked up numerous awards, including a Jussi ("Finnish Oscar”). The English language remake rights were acquired by LA-based W2 Media, at AFM 2011. The project was taken on by AMBI Pictures Group in October 2014.

In 2010, I was hired by Sky Drama to do thorough scientific, political, historical and conspiracy research on an original TV thriller series, developed in house. The project was taken to Kudos Film and Television, eventually picked up by Channel 4, and became the acclaimed UTOPIA, which first broadcast in January 2013 and ran for two series. The US remake was greenlit by HBO, with David Fincher to executive produce and direct, and Gillian Flynn (author and screenwriter of GONE GIRL) to write all episodes. Flynn has now taken the project to Amazon Studios.

Other clients include 104 Films (including script consultancy on Justin Edgar's teen-comedy feature film, WE ARE THE FREAKS - released in the UK in April 2014); Picture Palace Films; AL Films; The Script Factory; BAFTA Rocliffe New Writing Forum and numerous writers and producers.

I trained with the UK's National Film and Television School and the Script Factory (on a David Lean Foundation scholarship), graduating in 2007 with a Diploma in Script Development.

I have a background in film and television production - including a stint in the casting office of V FOR VENDETTA (Warner Brothers), the rehearsal room of the BBC cult comedy series SNUFF BOX, and the staff room of Central School of Speech and Drama, where I produced MA graduation shorts.

With a first class degree in Screen Studies from Liverpool John Moores University, I worked my way across Canada, assisting at the Toronto International Film Festival, Banff Television Festival and at Vancouver’s Pacific Cinémathèque. Other adventures include intensive film producer training - with a focus on feature film packaging and financing - with US producer, and NYU professor, Robert Nickson, at the 2008 Cannes Film Market.

I previously mentored an industry new-entrant, through the Skillset-supported Second Light scheme, and in 2011 co-founded In Development, a monthly drinks and discussion group for professionals developing screen fiction. I was the External Assessor for the National Film and Television School's Diploma in Script Development from 2014 to 2016.
